Working with nature to deliver a farming landscape for nature’s recovery

Farmer Martin Lines will talk us through how he works with nature to deliver a farming landscape for nature’s recovery and food production.

Martin sees nature as an asset on farms, and will talk about how his approach has resulted in him changing his own farming practices. Nature-friendly farming has a really positive impact on wildlife, the environment, and farms themselves. The numbers of pollinators and birds increase, with a knock on effect on crop yields and reductions in the use of pesticides.

Martin will also talk about the Nature Friendly Farming Network, which aims to provide a strong voice for regenerative nature friendly and sustainable farming.

Martin Lines is a farmer and contractor in South Cambridgeshire, growing mainly arable crops on his family farm and rented land. He has a special interest in farm conservation management, currently running four Countryside Stewardship schemes on land he owns, rents and manages. He also supports the delivery of Stewardship schemes for a number of other farmers. Martin is the NFFN UK Steering Group Chair and hopes to see the network grow with like-minded farmers and land managers who will work together, sharing best practices and demonstrating what can be accomplished for nature and the environment while producing great produce.
